The guidelines below are tailored for most pools. Begin with these recommendations, and only adjust if your pool shows distinct needs. Running the pool filter during daylight hours is key to preventing algae and managing chlorine effectively.

Depending on your pump type, here are the recommended settings:

Variable Speed Pump:

High Speed: Set your high speed to 2600 rpm. This speed balances efficient cleaning and powerful circulation, ideal for automatic vacuums or pop-up systems. For best results, run this between 8 am and 12 pm daily (4 hours).

Low Speed: Set your low speed to 1600 rpm. This speed is energy-efficient while ensuring continuous circulation to prevent stagnation. We suggest running this from 12 pm to 8 pm daily (8 hours). It’s worth noting that during the low speed cycle, it’s typical for the vacuum to remain stationary. Its activity is more pronounced during the high-speed phase.

Single Speed Pump:

For those with a single-speed pump, it’s best to run it from 8 am to 4 pm daily. These pumps are now phased out in Tucson due to energy efficiency regulations, leading to the adoption of variable speed pumps.

**Note:** If your pool appears cloudy, run the filter continuously until it clears up. Afterward, return to your regular schedule.
